About the Construction Health & Safety Micro-credential
The Construction Health & Safety (CHS) course is designed to help those in the construction industry to gain general awareness about health and safety issues on the worksite. It provides students with a basic awareness of and introduction to various aspects of construction health and safety, including common hazards, safe work practices, fall protection, labeling of hazardous materials, and related regulatory requirements. This course was developed and based on the OSHA regulations for construction projects.
Upon successful completion of our program, you will receive an George Brown College Construction Health & Safety Micro-credential.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
• Explain the importance of OSHA in providing workers with a safe and healthful workplace.
• Describe worker rights under OSHA
• Discuss employer responsibilities under OSHA
• Locate OSHA Standards references applicable to specific hazardous conditions
• Describe various types of PPE, and the requirements for use in OSHA standards
• List the requirements for protection from caught-in and struck-by hazards
• Discuss the measures for protecting workers and equipment from dangerous falls
• Recognize the hazards associated with working in or around excavation sites
• Identify common electrical hazards and related OSHA standards
• Describe the safety aspects of scaffolding for workers in elevated workplaces
Course Costs
The total cost of the course is $150 (includes non-refunable materials fee of $50).

- The course curriculum is web-based. Once a registration is confirmed, students will receive a confirmation email with a URL and login information from which to access the web-based curriculum.
- This online course is device and operating system independent, so you are free to access the course with any device, anytime and anywhere, via the Internet. All students need to do is connect to the cited website to start the course.
- The course includes interactive curriculum using text, video, photos, and audio clips. Review examples, practice exams, and online support prepare students for computer-based final exam.
- An exam is written online using a computer-based testing package. A timed, 90-minute exam is taken to complete the module exam.
