NABCEP PVIP Certification
Earning a NABCEP PV Installation Professional (PVIP) certification will set you apart as a trusted expert in the solar energy industry. Recognized across North America, NABCEP represents quality, safety, and professionalism—and many employers, utilities, etc. require or prefer NABCEP-certified professionals.
In addition, holding a PVIP credential shows your commitment to industry best practices and demonstrates that you have the advanced skills to design and install solar systems with confidence. It also helps build credibility with clients and employers while opening doors to career growth and leadership opportunities in the fast-growing renewable energy sector.
Qualifying for the Exam
Successfully complete the Solar Energy (ST) Technican program -12 module exams
Successfully complete the Construction Health and Safety (CHS) course - 1 exam
Upon completion of ST Certificate and CHS course approved for advanced hours for the PVIP exam, students can submit Certificate of Completion, Badge and Student Summary of Grades to submit with their NABCEP application
The PVIP exam must be taken within one year of the Technician and micro-credential end-dates.

Certification Status
NABCEP has introduced a new Board Eligible Status program that allows candidates to complete their PV Installation Professional (PVIP) certification requirements in a more flexible order, separating the process into two main steps: education/examination first, followed by field experience.
Applying for Recertification
To maintain your NABCEP certification, you must complete the recertification process every three years, which includes obtaining 30 continuing education units (CEUs) and submitting a recertification application. The Solar Energy Technician and CHS micro-credential are valued at 60 CEU's and 5 CEUs respectively.
